Naresuan University Engages in ASEAN Research Collaboration at AYSC 2026
19 May 2026 | Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok
On 19 May 2026, Dr. Yutthapong Tongpob, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation Development, together with early-career researchers — Dr. Kalyarut Phumlek (Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences) — represented Naresuan University at the ASEAN Young Scientists Connect 2026 (AYSC2026), themed “Building Regional Teams for Future Research Collaboration”, co-organized by TSRI (Thailand) and NAFOSTED (Vietnam) at Vimarn Ballroom, Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok.
Programme Highlights:
In the morning session, in the Panel Discussion on “Funding Opportunities for Global Collaboration”, which brought together senior representatives from JST/e-ASIA JRP Secretariat (Japan), the British Embassy Bangkok, the French Embassy Thailand, and TSRI. The panel provided a comprehensive overview of key international funding instruments — including e-ASIA JRP, the UK International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF/UKRI), Horizon Europe, and Thailand’s INNOGLOBE initiative — reflecting a global shift toward consortium-based, impact-driven, and regionally relevant research partnerships.
In the evening, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tanapon Phenrat and Ms. Saranporn Kirdkoh, joined the Networking Welcome Reception and the 14th Global Research Council (GRC) Meeting at Napalai Hall, Dusit Thani Hotel — a prestigious global platform uniting research funding agencies worldwide. NU’s participation at this level underscores the university’s growing recognition within the international research community.
Strategic Impact for Naresuan University:
This participation delivers value across three dimensions. First, it provides direct intelligence on major international funding calls (e-ASIA, ISPF, Horizon Europe, INNOGLOBE), enabling NU to position proposals ahead of call openings. Second, it accelerates regional partner-building, connecting NU researchers with ASEAN counterparts for future consortium development. Third, it advances early-career researcher capacity, equipping young scientists with the networks, skills, and global exposure needed to compete for international funding — directly supporting NU’s ambition to become a Global and Frontier Research University.
