The Newton International Fellowship aims to attract the world\u2019s most promising early-career post-doctoral researchers to the UK. It provides an opportunity to conduct high-quality research at a UK host institution for 2 years, fostering long-term international collaboration.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Key Information<\/div>\n
– Opening Date: 15 January 2026<\/div>\n
– Closing Date: 12 March 2026 (Approximate – TBC by Royal Society)<\/div>\n
– Duration: 2 years (Full-time)<\/div>\n
– Host Institution: Any UK University or Research Institute.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Financial Support<\/div>\n
– Subsistence\/Salary: Up to \u00a332,000 per annum.<\/div>\n
– Research Expenses: Up to \u00a310,000 per annum (for consumables, equipment, and travel).<\/div>\n
– Relocation Expenses: Up to \u00a33,500 (including visa costs).<\/div>\n
– Alumni Funding: Potential for follow-on funding (up to \u00a36,000\/year for 10 years) to maintain the link with the UK.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Eligibility Criteria<\/div>\n
– Degree: Must hold a PhD or be in the final stages of completion (viva must be passed before the start of the fellowship).<\/div>\n
– Experience: Should have no more than 7 years of active full-time post-doctoral experience at the time of application.<\/div>\n
– Residency: Must be working outside the UK at the time of application and must not hold UK citizenship.<\/div>\n
– English Proficiency: Must be competent in oral and written English.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

– The Royal Society: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.).<\/div>\n
– The British Academy: Social Sciences and Humanities.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
